Melchizedek - "God's Righteousness" – Is a ancient and sacred Hebrew name to the Jewish people and hence held in deep reverence to Maori Initiatives Trust. The name was bestowed on the Marae by Rabbi Yaakov Brown and blessed and opened by Kaumatua Wikitoria Tewhata of Ngati Porou iwi on July 7 2022 during ASK of Him 198 Nations gathering on the Marae via Clubhouse app. Melchizedek Marae promotes the characteristics of Jesus, fruits of the Spirit. For those visiting the Marae for the first time, a steward will be on hand to assist you throughout the welcome ceremony. Maori Initiatives uses two Traditional Maori protocols for welcoming and hosting meetings. 1) Powhiri. This a formal Maori customary welcome ceremony 2) Mihi. Less formal Maori customary welcome - general gatherings.
